This summer, the Science Museum of Minnesota hosts The Science Behind Pixar opening June 9, 2017. As all things developed by Pixar and The Walt Disney Company, you will be blown away by this exhibit.
Developed at the Museum of Science, Boston, The Science of Pixar is an all-encompassing tour through the steps of how a Pixar movie is made. There is a reason that these movies are magical.
And it’s all based on science.
Your tour will begin with a 5 minute intro film. And as expected the film made me laugh out loud. It was produced by those who work on movies like Toy Story and Cars. When the film concludes, walk through the more than 40 hands-on stations that guide you through the entire process: Modeling, Rigging, Surfaces, Sets & Cameras, Animation, Simulation, Lighting, and Rendering.
I felt like a little piece of Walt Disney World was in Minnesota. PLUS, it was so incredibly educational.
Admission to the Science Museum and The Science Behind Pixar will be $28.95 for adults, 22.95 for kids ages 4 to 12 and seniors age 65 and older.

- Reserve your Pixar tickets in advance
.
You don’t want to stand in line waiting and hoping to get the best time for you. The tickets are stamped with the date and time. You are allowed to enter anytime after the entrance time and spend as little or as much time time immersed in the magic as you would like. Get your hand stamped to be able to re-enter later if you want to come back. And more than likely, you will want to come back. Take your time and don’t rush through.
Guide your kids around the display hall. With so many interactive stations, your kids (and you) will probably be overwhelmed with choices. I watched a little girl bounce from station to station without stopping to breathe. My daughter–who is 12–missed a whole section of activities because something across the room drew her attention. We went back to it. You can touch everything. There are LOTS of buttons to push. Honestly, you won’t want to leave.Discounts are available.
Members of the Science Museum receive a significant discount as well as get into the museum free. This is honestly, the best time to get a membership. For non-members, I was promised that there will be discounts throughout the summer. We will let you know if we learn about anything specific.- Don’t wait.
The exhibit is only here until Labor Day! You will be so disappointed if you miss it.
